OrbitProtect International Student

Yes. OrbitProtect's International Student plans are designed to meet the Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students, the standard Immigration NZ uses to validate student visa insurance.

After buying a Prime or Lite policy you receive an OrbitPay card you can use like an EFTPOS card at registered NZ GPs and pharmacies. The provider charges OrbitProtect directly, so you don't pay upfront and don't submit a claim.

For 2026, Lite is NZD $669/year and Prime is NZD $786/year (verified on the OrbitProtect 'Premium changes' page). Pricing is for ages 5–60; older students get a manual quote.

Prime adds automatic luggage cover (up to NZD $10,000), kidnap-and-ransom cover (NZD $50,000), unlimited mental-health repatriation, and unlimited expatriation. Lite is the cheapest visa-compliant option but you specify any luggage you want covered.

Not automatically. You can apply for pre-existing condition cover at policy purchase. OrbitProtect charges a NZD $45 assessment fee; if approved, you'll pay an additional premium and the policy may exclude maintenance treatment for the condition.
