The 2026-27 premium for the Drexel University Student Health Insurance Plan (Dragon Plan) - UnitedHealthcare StudentResources is $3,178–$3,468 a year (student only). It is billed to your student account unless your waiver is approved.
Quarter students: annual 9/1/2026-7/31/2027 $3,178. Semester/Law students: 8/1/2026-7/31/2027 $3,468. College of Medicine: 11/12/13-month options at $3,178/$3,468/$3,757. Rates include a $50 Drexel administrative fee and school-bought travel/student assistance programs.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.
Waiver requirements
According to Drexel University, your alternative plan must meet these criteria (summarised — the official list is binding):
- Emergency and non-emergency, inpatient and outpatient care in the Drexel area
- Mental health and substance abuse coverage in the Drexel area
- Policy-year maximum of at least $500,000
- Insurer licensed in the U.S. with U.S. claims office and phone
- Covers pre-existing conditions immediately upon enrollment
- Covers the full academic year; no reimbursement plans
