Annual premium for the HCC International Student Health Insurance (Academic HealthPlans) is approximately $700–$1,200 USD for the 2025 academic year. This is billed directly to your student account unless you successfully waive.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.

Your alternative plan must meet all of the following criteria to pass the Houston Community College waiver review:
- Comparable coverage valid in Texas
- Annual benefit of at least $100,000
- Harris County, TX network access
- Valid for the full enrollment period
