Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.

Your alternative plan must meet all of the following criteria to pass the Massachusetts Institute of Technology waiver review:
- Comparable coverage meeting Massachusetts QSHIP standards
- Medical evacuation and repatriation coverage
- Plan must provide in-network access in the Boston area
- Valid for the full academic year
