JEES A-Type covers exactly that 30% gap plus ¥100 million liability. At ¥11,500 per year (~¥958/month), it is one of the cheapest meaningful additions you can make to your NHI coverage.
No. JEES Inbound Futai-Gakuso is a group contract sold only through JEES-affiliated schools (1,072+ Japanese universities, language schools, and graduate programs). If your school is not in the network, you will need to look at private travel/student insurance instead.
A-Type is the standard plan for students with NHI — ¥11,500 per year, reimburses your 30% medical co-pay. B-Type is for students staying under 3 months or without NHI — ¥1,860 per year, liability-only, no medical reimbursement. C-Type also targets non-NHI students but pays a flat ¥5,000/day during hospitalization instead of reimbursing actual costs (¥2,240/month).
