Annual premium for the NYU Student Health Insurance Plan (Wellfleet/Aetna) is approximately $3,800–$4,400 USD for the 2025 academic year. This is billed directly to your student account unless you successfully waive.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.

Your alternative plan must meet all of the following criteria to pass the New York University waiver review:

- Annual benefit of at least $500,000 (ideally unlimited)
- Mental health coverage at parity with medical
- Deductible under $1,000
