Annual premium for the OSU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHI, Wellfleet) is approximately $2,200–$2,800 USD for the 2025 academic year. This is billed directly to your student account unless you successfully waive.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.
Waiver requirements
Your alternative plan must meet all of the following criteria to pass the Ohio State University waiver review:
- Comparable US-based coverage or approved international plan
- Annual benefit of at least $500,000
- In-network access in Franklin County, OH
- Mental health and prescription drug coverage
- Valid for the full enrollment period
