Cost if you take SHIP
The 2026-27 premium for the ASU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), UnitedHealthcare StudentResources is $2,956–$3,182 a year (student only). It is billed to your student account unless your waiver is approved.
Per semester (Spring runs to Aug 15, so summer included): Fall $1,118 + Spring $1,838 = $2,956. New international students pay mandatory Early Arrival coverage in their first semester (Fall $1,344), so a new fall international student pays $1,344 + $1,838 = $3,182.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.
Waiver requirements
Arizona State University does not allow waivers for most international students. Review the exceptions below and budget for the full SHIP premium.
