Annual premium for the UR Student Health Insurance Plan (Excellus) is approximately $2,800–$3,400 USD for the 2025 academic year. This is billed directly to your student account unless you successfully waive.
Waiver deadline
Submit your waiver request before the deadline above. Universities rarely accept late waivers — if you miss it, you are auto-enrolled in SHIP and billed the full premium.
Waiver requirements
Your alternative plan must meet all of the following criteria to pass the University of Rochester waiver review:
- Comparable coverage with Monroe County, NY network
- Annual benefit of at least $500,000
- Mental health and prescription drug coverage
- Medical evacuation and repatriation
- Valid for the full academic year
